TEC|BENCH: 20 years of virtual benchmarking with TECOSIM

Since 2004, TECOSIM has been setting new standards in benchmarking for the automotive industry with its innovative TEC|BENCH method. As a leading specialist in computer aided engineering (CAE), the company raises benchmarking to a new level. The key difference: TECOSIM converts hardware data into highly precise CAE models, permitting in-depth analyses of competitor products which would otherwise be impossible.

These models enable TECOSIM to study complex aspects of structural mechanics and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) which couldn’t be analysed without simulation. Hardware transformed into CAE models also provides a direct comparison and can be integrated into own virtual design geometries, thus creating a new analysis and design environment. Clients benefit from a decisive competitive advantage in product development.

Since 2022, TECOSIM has been working closely with A2MAC1, the market leader in benchmarking in the automotive sector. Together, the two companies have developed realistic crash and NVH simulation models for electric vehicles, available on the A2MAC1 platform under the names DT4C and DT4NVH.

These digital twins are setting new standards in quality assurance, offering numerous advantages (as demonstrated by virtual crash tests here):

  • Crash behaviour optimisation: models provide an enhanced study of crash behaviour in competitor vehicles.
  • Acceleration of product development: precise simulations make it possible to detect and avoid design errors at an early stage, thus saving time and costs.
  • Seamless workflow integration: digital models can be effortlessly incorporated into existing development processes.
  • Cost savings: OEM client feedback shows that up to 50 percent of costs can be saved in comparison to physical crash tests.
  • Sustainability: virtual crash tests not only reduce costs, but also improve the carbon balance since they replace resource-intensive real tests.
  • Many years’ experience: with a total of over 30 years working in reverse engineering, both companies offer their clients an unmatched combination of experience and expertise.
